Med 5. udgave har Retskrivningsordbogen fået sin egen side, ro.dsn.dk, som er udviklet med fokus på brugervenlighed.
Den 18. november 2024 udkommer Retskrivningsordbogens 5. udgave på tryk og digitalt på hjemmesiden ro.dsn.dk. Tidligere udgaver af Retskrivningsordbogen har også været tilgængelige elektronisk, men disse elektroniske udgaver ordbogen var så godt som identiske med den trykte bog.
Hjemmesiden ro.dsn.dk er, i modsætning til tidligere elektroniske udgaver, tilpasset et digitalt medie, og hjemmesiden tilbyder brugeren en række tilpasningsmuligheder som skal sikre at såvel førstegangsbrugeren som superbrugeren kan finde de relevante oplysninger hurtigt og effektivt.
Som noget nyt er det i den digitale udgave af Retskrivningsordbogen muligt at skifte mellem dansk og latin i de grammatiske betegnelser i ordbogens alfabetiske del på ro.dsn.dk. Det gælder først og fremmest ordklassebetegnelserne, men også andre grammatiske betegnelser. Det er desuden muligt at skifte mellem forkortede og uforkortede betegnelser.

En anden ny funktionalitet i den digitale udgave af Retskrivningsordbogens 5. udgave er at det nu er muligt at få vist opslagene på to måder: i en kompakt listevisning eller som udfoldede opslag. Når man indtaster søgeord i søgefeltet på ro.dsn.dk, fremgår resultaterne i den kompakte listevisning. Således er det muligt hurtigt at identificere det opslag man er interesseret i. Når man har identificeret det relevante opslag, kan man trykke på opslaget i listevisningen for at få vist det udfoldede opslag. Det er også muligt at navigere i listevisningen ved brug af piletasterne på tastaturet.

PRESSEMEDDELELSE
18. november udkommer den nye udgave af Retskrivningsordbogen. Sammen med Lindhardt og Ringhof udgiver Sprognævnet den trykte udgave, og på ro.dsn.dk findes den digitale udgave frit tilgængelig.
67.500 opslagsord og yderligere 11.500 ord i sammensætningseksempler rummer den nye udgave af ordbogen. Dertil kommer i alt 62 paragraffer med retskrivningsregler.
Normeringen af dansk retskrivning er Dansk Sprognævns særlige og mest centrale opgave, og Retskrivningsordbogen er nævnets væsentligste redskab til at fastholde den skriftlige norm for dansk. Uden en sådan norm vil både analoge og digitale kommunikationsprocesser være vanskelige og mindre effektive – måske endda bryde sammen.
Med 5. udgave er ordbogen ajourført så også stavningen af det nyere ordstof er tilgængelig, og således at retskrivningsreglerne afspejler den praksis der er karakteristisk for klar og nutidig sprogbrug.
I forhold til 4. udgave fra 2012 er de væsentligste ændringer:
- At den trykte ordbog er forøget med ca. 2.400 opslagsord
- At der er justeret og ændret på ca. 5.000 af de ordidentificerende betydningsoplysninger som findes ved en række opslagsord
- At § 38 om adverbielt -t er ændret så -t nu bliver obligatorisk ved alle mådesadverbialer (også bitterligt og udtrykkeligt) og ved de fleste tidsadverbialer (fx månedligt og årligt)
- At Sprognævnet ikke længere anbefaler at man undlader startkomma ved ledsætninger, hvorfor de to gyldige kommaprincipper videreføres uden vægt på det ene frem for det andet (jf. § 45)
- At engelsk flertalsbøjning med -s optræder i flere substantiver i pluralis (fx designs og refills), samtidig med at dansk bøjning knyttes til flere låneord fx DJ’er og hipstere)
- At den digitale version af ordbogen er gjort langt mere brugervenlig – eksempelvis kan man vælge mellem danske og latinske betegnelser for ordklasserne, altså fx navneord i stedet for substantiv, og at det er lettere at orientere sig i reglerne ved opslag. Ordbogens nye funktioner virker kun på ro.dsn.dk, og af den grund lukkes roplus.dk.

I efteråret 2023 foretog Sprognævnet en undersøgelse af danskernes holdninger til kønnede endelser i dansk (fx bedekvinde og forperson). I 1979 fik Danmark sin første kvindelige forligsmand, Mette Koefoed Bjørnsen. I denne artikel viser seniorforsker Margrethe Heidemann Andersen hvordan ordet forligskvinde har fundet vej ind i dansk, selvom det stadig hedder forligsmandsloven.

De fleste kender nok udtryk hvor drengenavnet Brian bIiver brugt som et adjektiv, men hvad med navnene Ebbe og Børge? I denne artikel fremhæver seniorforsker Margrethe Heidemann Andersen en række danske drengenavne som også bruges eller har været brugt som substantiver eller adjektiver.

EFNIL Master’s Thesis Award 2024. Call for submissions
The EFNIL Master’s Thesis Award is an annual competition to find the best master’s theses in Europe within the area of language use, language policy and multilingualism.
We are interested in studies that relate to the fields mentioned above, such as bilingual language learning, language teaching strategies, language use in multilingual settings, aims and effects of language policies, comparative studies of language policies, language technology and multilingualism, translation and interpretation.
The language(s) studied in the thesis may be any of the European languages.
The thesis should be written in one of the official EU/EEA languages (please note that English is still one of them).
The students that submit the best theses will each be awarded:
1. the EFNIL Master's Thesis Award (1500 Euro)
2. an invitation to present their thesis at the annual international EFNIL conference (all expenses paid)
3. the opportunity to publish an article based on their thesis in EFNIL’s annual conference proceedings
4. the opportunity to publish the full thesis on EFNIL’s website www.efnil.org.
Deadline for submission is 15 January 2025.
Theses assessed by a university in 2024 and until 15 January 2025, are accepted.

APM Terminals will continue to serve shipping line and landside customers with services on and around the port premises such as traditional storage and terminal handling as well as newly developed services such as fast-gates. They also are a great educational tool to learn more about different cultures, life experiences, and how we can better support our colleagues both inside and outside of work. During my senior year at the University of South Florida, as part of a Professional Development course within the business school, I participated in "mock interviews". I started on the Tampa South team as a Senior Sales Rep, which quickly led to a Sales Rep position managing the Lakeland/Bartow/Mulberry territory. From there, I was promoted to the West Palm Beach team for the Retail Merchandising Supervisor role. In this role I manage project lifecycles from scoping through completion, to ensure stakeholder expectations are met by delivering on critical milestones and having strong communication. I Sprognævnet har vi valgt at tildele årets stipendie til Tania Skov Uhre, Københavns Universitet, som skal skrive speciale med den foreløbige titel Grammatik i folkeskolen – en undersøgelse af kommakompetencer i 9. klasse.
Stipendiaten skal arbejde med sit speciale mindst én dag om ugen på Sprognævnets adresse i Bogense. Herigennem vil Tania Skov Uhre få et indblik i nævnets arbejde og have adgang til dialog med Sprognævnets medarbejdere.
Ved aflevering af specialet kommer stipendiet på 10.000 kroner til udbetaling.
Projektbeskrivelse i hovedtræk
I Danmark har vi to kommateringssystemer: med startkomma og uden startkomma. De to systemer er genstand for en debat der har eksisteret lige så længe som systemerne. Uanset hvilket system man følger, er forståelsen for sætningsstruktur og de grammatiske termer essentiel for at anvende kommareglerne. I en undersøgelse (Rathje & Østergaard-Nielsen 2021) udtaler en gymnasielærer at folkeskoleelever kommer ud af folkeskolen med færre retskrivningskompetencer end tidligere, mens lærerne har en forventning om at eleverne behersker retskrivningsreglerne. Denne forventning betyder at nogle lærere ikke prioriterer grammatik i undervisningen. Samtidig viser en anden undersøgelse (Johannsen 2012) at tegnsætning er afgørende for karakterer i gymnasiet, og peger på en direkte sammenhæng mellem kommafejl og karaktergivning. Sådan en sammenhæng er væsentlig at tage i betragtning i en tid hvor karakterer er afgørende og adgangsgivende til videre uddannelse.
På denne baggrund vil specialet belyse væsentligheden i at opnå større grammatisk forståelse og færdigheder i korrekt kommatering. Specialet undersøger om der er dele af retskrivningsundervisningen der kan skærpes til fremtidig undervisning med henblik på at give folkeskolelever bedre forudsætninger for at sætte komma efter Dansk Sprognævns kommaregler og -anbefalinger. Det er en empirisk og kvantitativ undersøgelse af en 9.-klasses grammatiske forståelse og kommakompetencer. Specialet søger at besvare følgende spørgsmål:
- Hvad er den faktiske grammatiske forståelse og det grammatiske niveau i en 9.-klasse?
- Hvilke dele af grammatikundervisningen kan skærpes i folkeskolen med henblik på at give bedre forudsætninger for at sætte korrekt komma?
Specialet har relevans for Sprognævnets forskning i dansk sprog og sprogbrug idet det undersøger udviklingen af og forståelsen for grammatiske færdigheder. Specialet antages at være relevant for Dansk Sprognævn da resultaterne kan fungere som et led i Sprognævnets bedømmelse og formuleringer af kommareglerne, og hvordan de kan målrettes elever i 9. klasse. Specialet er derudover relevant for Sprognævnets arbejde med det brede udbud af vejledning om korrekt skriftligt dansk efter Retskrivningsordbogen til de danske sprogbrugere.

Dette års nummer af tidsskriftet Sprog i Norden er netop udkommet. Det indeholder artikler som er skrevet på baggrund af foredrag på konferencen Nordterm 2023, der blev afholdt i forbindelse med det nordiske sprogmøde i Stockholm i 2023.
Konferencen var arrangeret som et samarbejde mellem Netværket for Sprognævnene i Norden og det terminologiske netværk Nordterm. Konferencens titel var Terminologi i samhällets tjänst – altså terminologi i samfundets tjeneste.
Tidsskriftet indeholder også beretninger fra de respektive terminologigrupper om terminologiarbejdet i de nordiske lande.
Årets nummer indeholder desuden oversigter over udvalgte publikationer om nordisk sprog der udkom i løbet af 2023.

Sprog i Norden er udkommet siden 1970. Tidsskriftet redigeres af de nordiske sekretærer i sprognævnene i Danmark, Finland, Færøerne, Grønland, Island, Norge og Sverige. Den nordiske sekretær fra Danmark er Marianne Rathje. Hovedredaktør for denne udgave af tidsskriftet er Kirsten Lindø Dolberg-Møller fra Dansk Sprognævn.
Temaet for NyS 65 er Sproget, mennesket og teknologien.
Nydanske Sprogstudier 65 indeholder fire tematiske bidrag som på forskellig vis diskuterer forholdet mellem teknologi og sprog. Nummerets første tre artikler beskæftiger sig med muligheder og begrænsninger ved de såkaldte Large Language Models, herunder sprogmodellernes sprogforståelse og evne til at bruge et fagspecifikt ordforråd. Den fjerde artikel diskuterer hvordan den menneskelige krop spiller en rolle i såkaldte emojier. Derudover indeholder NyS to boganmeldelser.
